Karina Gutierrez
Dr. Karina Gutierrez enjoys engaging with the people and families she cares for and believes getting to know them personally is just as important as getting to know them medically. She focuses on treating adults and has particular interests in geriatrics and women’s health. Karina knew early on during her childhood that she was going to be a physician. She moved from Mexico to Austin in 6th grade, learned English, and excelled in academics to get into medical school, becoming the first in her family to become a doctor. Karina values contributing to the community through volunteer work and has offered her medical skills in hospital programs, vaccine distributions, school sports physical programs, and other community nonprofits. She tries to be an example to members by prioritizing a healthy lifestyle and balancing work and home life, which often includes driving her two young children to soccer, baseball, gymnastics, and ballet practices. Karina loves party planning and taught herself to be a balloon artist during the COVID-19 pandemic.
