About

Amy Patten

Amy Patten, MSN, APRN, FNP-C, is a certified family nurse practitioner who has been practicing since 2006, caring for patients of all ages, from infants to older adults. For Amy, cultural safety always comes first. She is especially committed to centering it in the exam room for racially minoritized populations, members of the LGBTQIA+ community, and veterans, and she works to build trust and create an environment where every patient feels seen and heard. Connection matters deeply to her, and she loves getting to know the people in her care through the stories and anecdotes of their lives. Above all, she hopes patients feel comfortable asking any question they have. Amy earned her undergraduate nursing degree from Purdue University and completed her nurse practitioner training at UCLA in 2006, along with a residency through UCLA and the Venice Family Clinic. She is certified by the American Academy of Nurse Practitioners and speaks on structurally vulnerable populations, homelessness, food insecurity, and medical racism. Amy teaches at the university level and has been named a Jonas Scholar (2024-2026) and a P.E.O. Scholar (2026-2027). In addition to English, she speaks Italian. Amy's favorite role in life is being a mom to her two middle-schoolers, and the family has traveled widely together; she has visited more than 60 countries. She cares for herself by practicing self-compassion, spending daily time in nature, keeping a photo journal, and building community connection. On any given day, you might find her hiking or biking through the greenbelt to a favorite watering hole or a beloved old live oak tree.
