We’re expanding across Austin and Texas, offering our care and health coverage combined to more people. We’re acquiring 32 clinics from VillageMD, enabling us to reach Texans in three new markets: San Antonio, El Paso, and Dallas. We’ll also expand our established clinical footprint in the Austin area.
With this acquisition, we’ll add more than 80 clinicians to our team of physicians and advanced practice providers (APPs). The expansion helps advance our core philosophy that a denser network of clinics improves quality of care through enhanced accessibility.
“Harbor Health has been honored to care for more than 50,000 people in Central Texas since we launched in 2022,” said Dr. Clay Johnston, Harbor Health Co-Founder. “This acquisition helps us keep up with the increasing demand for our care. Harbor Health and VillageMD teams are strongly aligned in our clinical model to operate in value, putting the consumer first and integrating care journeys, to result in better care and outcomes.”
The following locations are part of Harbor Health’s expanded primary care footprint:
- 10 clinics in Austin, Texas
- 10 clinics in San Antonio, Texas
- 6 clinics in El Paso, Texas
- 6 clinics in Dallas, Texas
Clinic Expansion Fuels Growth in Harbor Health’s Insurance Plan Offerings
Both Harbor Health and VillageMD have built strong relationships with payers to create innovative payment models that focus on member outcomes. The clinic expansion enables us to enhance our competitive insurance plans by expanding the coverage we provide to employers and consumers.
We’ll continue to work with Texas businesses to offer large employer health insurance plans for organizations with more than 50 employees. In addition, in November 2025, Harbor Health will be on healthcare.gov, the Individual Insurance Marketplace, offering fully insured individual and family health plans. Harbor Health plans cost 10% to 20% less than most other insurance plans, allowing consumers to retain more of their hard-earned money on the road to better health.
“Our vision is to be the best ‘pay-vider’ in Texas, and this significant acquisition allows us to see that vision more clearly, essentially overnight,” said Tony Miller, Harbor Health Co-Founder and CEO. “With a broader statewide presence, we are now positioned to serve up to 14 million Texans with care and coverage, up from 1.6 million currently. For us, that means more consumers and employers across the state can save money and receive high-quality care.”
From our launch in September 2022, we’ve always planned on expanding across Texas, offering care and coverage together. The acquisition of 32 clinics accelerates our growth by two to three years and continues to advance the goal of transforming the way healthcare is delivered.
