Luci Leykum
Dr. Luci Leykum leads the primary care team at Harbor Health. When she works with people on their health needs and goals, she is determined to not only work with them to create a care plan, but also develop real strategies that help accomplish that plan within the context of their unique lives. She goes in-depth to understand people’s health priorities, including what’s happening in their lives that influences their ability to meet health goals. Dr. Leykum has focused her career on improving healthcare systems to better meet people’s needs. Her research has studied how to improve relationships between people, their caregivers and families, and their care teams, so that the best care plans are created for each person. She is an Affiliate Professor at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. She leads the Elizabeth Dole Center of Excellence for Veteran and Caregiver Research. She is active in national professional societies and has held leadership positions in the Society of General Internal Medicine and Society of Hospital Medicine, and is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians. Dr. Leykum considers her work in healthcare a privilege. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her family, and taking care of her dogs, cats, fish and parrots.
