About
George P. Rodgers
Dr. George Rodgers trained as an interventional cardiologist but now focuses on preventative medicine, as he helps people adopt lifestyles that may stop heart disease from ever happening. He strives to provide high-value care that is high-quality and cost-effective. Dr. Rodgers considers himself a cheerleader for his patients, celebrating each small and large health goal they meet. He works in the community to screen adolescent athletes for cardiovascular disease and he is interested in the use of AI in cardiology and other new technologies like the point-of-care ultrasound that allows him to get a good look at a person’s heart while in the clinic exam room. Dr. Rodgers is an associate professor of internal medicine and associate chief of cardiology for education at the University of Texas at Austin Dell Medical School. He helped develop the heart disease curriculum for the school and serves as the director of electives for internal medicine residents. He has been very active in the American College of Cardiology during his entire career, receiving the title of Master of the ACC in 2020. He was the chair of its Board of Governors in 2007, served on the Board of Trustees for eight years, and was named the Distinguished Fellow in 2017. Married to actress and singer Leslie Hyland Rodgers, Dr. Rodgers makes music videos with his wife, and they love experiencing performing arts like theater and ballet. He prioritizes his own health by taking weekly ballet classes, doing yoga, and sleeping seven to nine hours each night.
